bird's nestThis summer two Bosque School students, Donny ’18 and Reese ’17 were hired by BEMP to create some incredible works of art in order to communicate science in unique and engaging ways. Donny re-vamped BEMP’s Bosque Bingo cards – a favorite of our Study Trip students. He also designed some fabulous new stickers featuring BEMP’s favorite creature – the porcupine. We are in the process of getting these made and will soon have them at our office, in schools, and available through our website!

Reece Bice PicReese, in collaboration with BEMP Co-Director Dan Shaw, has been crafting numerous beautiful watercolor illustrations for the forthcoming children’s book called Silver Razor Cuts Water. Pricilla the Porcupine meets the Colorado River razorback sucker and the Rio Grande silvery minnow (both endangered in their respective watersheds) and together the friends seek to understand more about how climate change is affecting their habitats. With the help of concerned citizens like BEMP citizen scientists, they brainstorm what they can do to help these fish and other threatened creatures. Reese’s art truly brings the tale to life and her delicate attention to the facial expressions of the main characters are sure to make children of all ages smile.
