Valle de Oro National Wildlife Refuge turns 4!

This past weekend BEMP had the opportunity to party with our community at the 4th birthday celebration of the Valle de Oro National Wildlife Refuge! Located in Southern Albuquerque, Valle de Oro is New Mexico’s first urban national wildlife refuge and works to connect the surrounding community to wildlife and nature in their own backyard.

Their annual birthday bash is one of their biggest events of the year, and we were happy to be a part of the festivities! The celebration included live music, cupcakes, food trucks, and organizations from all over the state with fun, interactive booths. Valle de Oro mascot, Puddles, kept the party hoppin’. vdo-mascot

BEMPer Kristen Weil showed students of all ages how we collect data and why it matters. One of BEMP’s most unique sites is located at Valle De Oro.

We love Valle de Oro—Happy 4th Birthday!untitled
