49th Joint Annual Meeting of the American Fisheries Society and the Wildlife Society

Eight Bosque seniors and one alumna participated in the 49th Joint Annual Meeting of the New Mexico and Arizona chapters of the American Fisheries Society and the Wildlife Society meeting in Flagstaff, AZ, on February 4-6. The students presented five scientific posters: Claire ’16 – “High School Students’ Attitudes Towards Snakes with Education About the Taxa” (plural of taxonomy); Jackie ’16 – Children’s Understanding of Climate Change on Local Wildlife at a Scientific Level”; Abi ’16, Sierra ’16, and Grace ’16 – “Anuran Species Inventory & Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis (Chytrid) Survey Along the Wild and Scenic Section of the Rio Chama and Rio Grande in Albuquerque”; and Sam ’16, Remi ’16, and Colin ’16 – “Scurrying Squamates: Surveying Lizard Movements in Albuquerque’s Riverside Forest.” Bosque alumna Claire Reardon ’13, and current Prescott College (AZ) junior, presented “Bunny Business: Rabbit Population Dynamics on the Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuge.” The eight students, divided into two teams, also participated in the wildlife quiz bowl against college teams and held their own in the competition.
