On Thursday April 28th and Friday April 29th nearly 300 BEMPers gathered to share their findings from their research in the bosque in the last year. They presented scientific posters and shared artwork and memories from their time in the bosque. Fourth through sixth grade students gathered at Bosque School on Thursday where they investigated BEMP data with Science Coordinator Kim Fike and shared their own findings. They also studied water quality in the pond, held snakes and identified pollinators with guest presenters. On Friday, the 7th-12th grade students working with BEMP and Watershed Watch brought their data from all over the Rio Grande watershed to Bachechi Open Space to present their findings, their experiences and in one case, the weather station they designed and built themselves! After presenting data, students explored some artistic and unconventional ways to display data. Thank you so much to all our BEMP students this year for acting as exceptional stewards of our environment, contributing to scientific knowledge and helping to inform best management of the bosque!
